We begin the third season of the best in folk music with our popular series “Coffeehouse at the Wheeler’s.”
Westport singer-songwriter Suzanne Sheridan has been the creative driving force and musical inspiration for the series and returns on Friday, April 17 from 6-8 pm with an evening devoted to the music of James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt, titled “Sweet Baby James and The Stone Pony.”
Suzanne is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, professional portrait photographer and long – time resident of Westport, CT. Along with songwriter Lee Kweller, Suzanne wrote “The Power’s In You” which won an Honorable Mention in the gospel category at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Suzanne starred in a sold-out rock ‘n roll concert, “She’s a rebel, fearlessly going where no woman has gone before” covering famous male-dominated rock ‘n roll songs from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s from a woman’s perspective.

The Suzanne Sheridan Band

Let THE SUZANNE SHERIDAN BAND take you back to the music of the 60’s and 70’s performing the songs of three of the most accomplished women singer-songwriters of our time – Carole King, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell. With an amazing array of musicians including Bob Cooper on keyboards, Marshal Rosenberg on percussion, Ruth Ahlers on all wind instruments plus backup vocal, Kim Manning and Denise Johnson on backup vocals, and the vibrant and powerful vocals of singer and guitarist Suzanne Sheridan, this concert will surely infect you with joy, nostalgia and the urge to sing along so please do.

Sheridan adds, “We are thrilled and very excited to be performing this concert at Garden Stage. All the musicians love playing this music and needless to say, the audience loves singing along.” Sheridan continued, “They taught an entire generation to define themselves through their own unfiltered emotions of pain, joy, love, desire, losing and winning in songs that rocked the world.” They surely, deeply and personally affected Sheridan and helped her realize just how much one could express in a song.

Sheridan and her band will perform such iconic songs as King’s “You’ve Got a Friend,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “It’s Too Late,” and “Up On the Roof”; Mitchell’s “A Case of You,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” and  “Woodstock”; and Simon’s “You Belong to Me,” “You’re So Vain,” “Anticipation” and “Let the River Run” among others.  http://www.suzannesheridanmusic.com

ACLU BENEFIT CONCERT FOR MARRIAGE EQUALITY AT LONG WHARF THEATRE

•March 12, 2014 • 1 Comment

We’ve come a long way, we need to go all the way! MARRIAGE EQUALITY IN ALL 50 STATES!! That’s why I chose to make the ACLU of CT the beneficiary of our Joni Mitchell/Leonard Cohen concert on May 31 at Long Wharf Theatre, Stage II. And that’s why I am dedicating this concert to the late Manny Margolis who was a tireless attorney for the rights of gay couples everywhere. We are very lucky here in Connecticut that Manny and others like him fought to secure our rights. Now it is our turn to help the gay couples in the other 33 states without equal protection under the law. CLICK HERE FOR BOX OFFICE
